Fluorescent images showing protein movement out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm in cells with ALS mutations.

Compared to the control cell (top row), in the ALS cell (bottom row) more FUS protein (green) has moved out of the nucleus (blue) into the rest of the nerve cell (the long green strands in the bottom right). This is because proteins have been moved out of the nucleus in ALS.
