「分層自組裝」光催化系統（左圖）模仿一種名為「Rhodobacter sphaeroides」的紫色細菌體內的自然光合作用細胞器，當利用太陽能把二氧化碳轉化為燃料甲烷時，其能量轉換效率達到15%，超越了自然界的光合作用。
