Two UTIA professors provide leadership to the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics

Professors Chris Boyer and Edward Yu from the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture have been appointed editors of the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

The open-access journal publishes original scholarly articles related to research, Extension and teaching aspects of agricultural and applied economics of national and international relevance. The journal also includes review studies employing strong policy and methodology pertinent to the economics of agribusiness, natural resources and rural development.

“We’re honored to be selected as editors for the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics,” said Boyer. “The journal publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research with a strong emphasis on topics relevant and practical for a wide audience of stakeholders.” Boyer’s research focuses on the connection between farm business management and risk management.

“Publishing in an open-access journal allows the research to be accessible to readers worldwide, increasing opportunities to communicate, collaborate and make positive change,” said Yu. Serving as the director of graduate studies and the Buford and Beatrice Irwin Endowed Faculty Fellow in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Yu’s research focuses on agricultural and forestry biomass logistics, the bioenergy-agriculture-environment interface, and agricultural trade and price analysis.

In addition to Boyer and Yu, Michael Vassalos with Clemson University is also serving a three-year term as editor of the journal.
